FAQ

How can I volunteer?

The only way of registering this year is on-line. Click on the registration tab for a link to the registration page, here you will be able to create your volunteer profile.

When should should I register?

Will I receive any training?

Every volunteer will need to receive training in June to work at Gemau Cymru. 

Some roles will require more training than others.

How long will I be expected to volunteer for?

This depends entirely on the time that you have available and the role that we have allocated you, however a set time will be agreed before hand. You will have an opportunity to note what days and competitions you are available to work at when registering, dates and times for each competition will be visible on the database. We would appreciate your honesty when selecting the days and comeptitions you can work at. We will select a role that is suitable for your availability.

What will we have to wear when volunteering at Gemau Cymru?

We will provide appropriate clothing for volunteers to wear during Gemau Cymru. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a backpack. Volunteers will be expected to wear blue or black tracksuit bottoms/ shorts with the t-shirt.

You will have the opportunity to select what size t-shirt you would like to receive when registering to volunteer. Please ensure you select the correct size, although you will have the opportunity to change these sizes on your volunteer profile.   

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

You have to be 16 or older to volunteer.

When will I receive a response regarding my application to volunteer?

After registering, you will receive an email to confirm you have registered successfully. You will receive a password in the confirmation email in order for you to access your online volunteer profile. It is important that you keep a record of your password.  If you haven’t received an email, contact us as soon as possible.  

Can I choose the location and sport I will volunteer at?

There is an opportunity for you to note on your application form what sports/location you would like to work at, however we must stress while we try our best to accommodate volunteer’s choices, it may not be possible everytime.  

Is there an opportunity to volunteer with my friends and family?

Yes, as long as your friends have registered beforehand we will try our best to ensure that you volunteer with each other.

How will I know where and when I will be working?

After the closing date, we will allocate volunteer roles based on their choices and availability. We will input this information on the volunteer database and you will receive an email informing you of your allocated shifts. You will need to confirm your shifts on your volunteer profile. You will receive information regarding your role before the training day.

Can I volunteer if I have a disability?

Of course. There are a variety of roles available to volunteers with a disability. If you have any concerns regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact; 02922 405336

Will there be transport and accommodation available to volunteers?

No, unfortunately Gemau Cymru does not have the budget to cover volunteer transport and accommodation costs.
